To get to Santa Teresa, take the Bonde (tram) from Centro. Up here you will find a district brimming with old-fashioned charm; many artists and writers have chosen to live among the abandoned old luxury residences. The district has retained a bohemian edge, with its painters, artists' studios, cafes and restaurants. Be sure to visit the Museu Chácara do Céu and the Parque das Ruínas. It is, however, prudent to avoid going there after dark or carrying any valuables on your person.
