Sabará : Michelin's recommendations

Sabará, lying 25km southeast of Belo Horizonte, on the banks of the Rio das Velhas, was founded in the 18C during the gold rush in Minas Gerais. Some fabulous religious edifices from the time have been preserved: these archetypal Baroque works of art include Igreja da Ordem Terceira de N. S. do Carmo, Igreja Matriz de N. S. da Conceição and Igreja de N. S. do Ó. Take the time to visit the Museu do Ouro, whose collection includes some interesting pieces.
