Afro-Brazilian rites and dances hold an important place in the religious life of the Maranhense. Through models, photos and objects, the Casa da Festa presents the oldest terreiros (places of worship) in the state, Casa das Minas and Casa de Nagô, which were founded in the 19C. A whole room is dedicated to Alcântara's colourful Festa do Divino, also celebrated in the terreiros of São Luis. The tambor de crioula and other local dances are covered too.
