Just next door to Parque Luz, one of São Paulo's few quiet spots, is the Pinacoteca do Estado. The space, which was admirably designed by Paulo Mendes da Rocha, does full justice to the paintings and sculptures on display, which include masterpieces of Brazilian art from the 19C to the present day. There are works by Lasar Segall, Willys de Castro and Antônio Parreiras, and also by Niki de Saint-Phalle and Rodin.
