The Museu Afro-Brasil, located in an elegant, light-filled building, opened its doors in 2004. It contains 5 000 very diverse exhibits, which testify to the importance of African culture in Brazil, from the time of slavery to the present day. These range from everyday objects and works of art to costumes and archive documents and make for a fascinating visit.
