Off the Costa Verde is the Ilha Grande, a well-preserved little slice of paradise with lush vegetation and turquoise waters. Perhaps the island has been spared the attention of property developers due to its largely uninteresting history. In high season, arriving in Vila do Abraão can be unsettling because of the throngs of tourists. But bear in mind that you will easily find some peace and quiet on the many pathways that run across the inland (let people know of your itinerary), on a beach on the magnificent south coast or in the water, observed only by the fish! An island that provides an authentic experience.
