The Modern Art Museum has been installed in Solar do Unhão, a fine 17C property. The grounds include a chapel, transformed into an exhibition room, and a sculpture garden (works by Carybé and Mário Cravo, to name but two). The permanent exhibition presents the big names in modern Brazilian painting, including Di Cavalcanti (1897-1976), Cândido Portinari (1903-1962) and Burle Marx (1909-1994).
