Nesebar : Michelin's recommendations
A fortified island linked to the mainland by a narrow dyke: this is how Nesebar appears to visitors. Its cobbled streets, lined with wooden houses, as well as chapels and churches, testify to the prestigious past of the city which had its heyday during the reign of Tsar Ivan Alexander (1331-71), when it acquired as many as 41 new churches! After a period of decline, the city recovered its prestige at the time of the National Awakening (18C and 19C). Today, Nesebar is a summer resort on Unesco's World Heritage list.
