This house, built in 1865 by Hadži Aleko Cvetkov is one of the oldest examples of the Plovdiv National Awakening style. It is on Unesco's World Heritage list. Restored in 2003, the residence now houses a permanent collection of contemporary painting. As you enter, you will see a superb oval drawing room with a carved wooden ceiling and several paintings by 20C Bulgarian masters: Dimitar Kazakov (1933-92), Georgi Kovacev (1902-92), David Perec (1906-82) and Atanas Stojkov (1905-88).
