Kiril-Nektariev Street is lined with a fine group of houses in the National Awakening style. At that time, a great many shop assitants, delivery men, buyers and sellers crowded the narrow streets which are now silent. All that remains from that period are the fine houses. N°17 is a mid-19C house, boasting a pretty alafranga decoration which explains the name of the Alafrangite restaurant. Veren Stamboljan's large house (circa 1850), at number 15, is now the headquarters of the Bulgarian Artists' Union.
