A feeling of power emanates from this fortress perched on a hill, in the heart of the Šumensko Plato nature park. From here the view of the town is magnificent and protected. The tour also offers the opportunity of taking a pleasant stroll through the varied countryside, in particular along a path leading to the monument dedicated to the founders of the Bulgarian state. The most energetic can reach the monument from the town, by climbing 1 300 steps (starting on the right of the History Museum).
