Lined by some impressive buildings, mostly by Austro-Hungarian architects working here in the early 20C, this long straight paved street (also called the “largo”) is one of the capital’s most attractive thoroughfares. Walking along it, note on the left the Austrian and Italian embassies, after the two-storey Military Club: built by a Czech architect between 1895 and 1900, this fine neo-Renaissance structure houses a concert hall and café.
