Karlovo has retained a pleasant old town centre, in particular along Vasil Levski Street which boasts a fine group of houses in the National Awakening style. Along this peaceful road there is a small square overlooked by the blue tower of the church of Our Lady (1847). On your way you will see Evlogi-Georgiev Street, lined with the Zoevata, Belijat and Alexandrova houses, the 15C Kuršum mosque, St-Nicholas's Church, the History Museum and the Vasil-Levski house-museum dedicated to the local hero who fought for the country's liberation.
