Rila Monastery, now on Unesco's World Heritage list, is worth a visit, not only for the harmonious beauty of its buildings, but also for the artistic treasures it contains. It is regrettable that most of them should often be inaccessible. However, you will be able to admire the main church, with its breathtaking wealth of ornamentation. The History Huseum also houses acknowledged master pieces of Bulgarian religious art. You may be lucky and find the chapel, the Hreljo tower and the Ethnographic Museum open.
