An interpretation centre that recounts the history of the city; visitors follow a chronological pathway past museum exhibits. Visitors may even try on a Mountie uniform, complete with accessories. The post itself is under reconstruction, but the stables, blacksmith shop, carpenter shop and barracks are open for tours by costumed interpreters. Several rooms of the adjacent Deane House, former home to the NWMP superintendent, can be visited. Today the house functions as a popular restaurant, with meals served on a well-frequented porch as well as indoors. Paths afford views of the Bow River, and a pedestrian bridge allows access to St. George's Island and the zoo.
