This sizable museum, library and meeting hall opened in 1983 to foster the province's black history and culture. Exhibits cover early migration and settlement, military service, religion and community. There is a memorial to naval hero William Hall (1827-1904), the first Nova Scotian and first black to be awarded the Victoria Cross, the Commonwealth's military medal for exceptional courage.
