Displays in the visitor centre provide insight into the mass migration of Ukrainian people to the Canadian Prairies. Homestead development-from early sod-covered dugout to whitewashed dwelling-is explained in detail by costumed interpreters. The village also includes a rural community and an early town, complete with a grain elevator, train station, provincial police post, domed churches and shops. An agricultural fair with horse-pulling competitions; a Ukrainian Day, featuring traditional food and dancing; a fall celebration, where visitors are invited to harvest a wheatfield and make sauerkraut; and other special events are held throughout the year. Horse-drawn wagon rides are available to visitors (free).
