This twin-spired stone church was built in 1926 as a memorial to the eight Jesuit martyrs of New France, who were declared saints in 1930. They were killed by the Iroquois between 1642 and 1649, the first five while they were missionaries at Sainte-Marie. On the front portico stand statues of Jean de Brébeuf and Gabriel Lalemant, the two Jesuits who were severely tortured before death. The church has a striking interior with wood panelling and a roof of sandalwood from British Columbia.
