Chapel of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Interesting : Michelin's recommendations

This small church, topped by a copper steeple, stands on the site of a wooden edifice commissioned by Marguerite Bourgeoys in 1657 and destroyed by fire in 1754. Facing the St. Lawrence, a 9m/30ft statue of the Virgin Mary crowns the rear of the church. Climb the observatory, accessible from the tower, to enjoy a panorama of the river, Old Montreal and the Old Port. Located in the basement, the Musée Marguerite Bourgeoys features a collection of dolls that re-creates the life of Bourgeoys (1620-1700), who came to Montreal with Maisonneuve in 1653 to found the Congregation of Our Lady. Bourgeoys was canonized in 1982.
