Montreal Botanical Garden Recommended Recommended : Michelin's recommendations

Over 21,000 international plant species are exhibited in 10 greenhouses and 30 outdoor gardens. The reception centre (1995) leads to an introduction greenhouse for a preview of the plant kingdom. The serres d'exposition (conservatories) present a wide range of tropical and semitropical plants. In the Chinese Greenhouse don't miss the superb Wu Collection of penjing, or "landscape in a pot." Opened in 1991, the Jardin de Chine (Chinese Garden) is a replica of a typical Ming dynasty (14-17C) garden. The Japanese pavilion houses exhibit spaces, a tea library, a Zen garden, a tea garden and a collection of bonsais (on view seasonally). Other sections not to be missed include the Rose Garden, the Marsh and Bog Garden, a re-created monastic garden, an Alpine garden and an enclosure of toxic plants.
