Mount Royal Recommended Recommended : Michelin's recommendations

Known to Montrealers as "the Mountain," Mt. Royal has become one of the city's most popular leisure spots. Rising abruptly from the otherwise flat plain, the 233m/764ft mountain forms part of the Monteregian Hills, a series of eight peaks located between the St. Lawrence and the Appalachians. The peaks are actually igneous plugs of magma that solidified before reaching the surface. To the west of Mt. Royal lies the former Anglophone enclave of Westmount, one of the city's choicest residential areas. Gracing the hill's eastern flank is the town of Outremont, home to Montreal's Francophone bourgeoisie.
