Mount Royal Park Recommended Recommended : Michelin's recommendations

Opened to the public in 1876, the city's premier urban park was designed by American landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted, creator of New York City's Central Park. Along with various plants and animals, the park has a lake, two lookout points, a chalet/visitor centre, an illuminated cross and numerous winding paths. In summer the park is lively with joggers; in winter horse-drawn sleds plow the snowy paths. The terrace fronting the Belvédère du Chalet (Chalet Lookout) affords a splendid view of the bustling downtown. From the popular Belvédère Camillien-Houde (Camillien Houde Lookout) (accessible by vehicle on the Voie Camillien-Houde), the superb view of eastern Montreal is dominated by the Olympic Stadium.
