These heights are part of the Niagara Escarpment and were once the location of Niagara Falls. Today they have been made into a pleasant park that provides good views of the river. At the centre of the park stands a monument to Gen. Sir Isaac Brock, the Canadian military hero of the War of 1812. The heights were captured by the Americans during the war. Brock was killed while leading the successful charge to recapture them.
