Founded and affiliated with the National Gallery of Canada in 1985, this museum actually has roots back to the 1940s. In order to acquire its collection, the museum assigned photographers to document the country, from its people to its natural resources. Today most of these images are in the museums extensive archive. The museum now also has a fine print collection and launched a program of exhibitions and publications.
