The only part of the original structure to escape the 1916 fire, the wood-panelled library is modelled on the reading room of the British Museum. Separately, the Peace Tower can be ascended for a fine viewa of the sprawling capital. Parliamentary proceedings are open to the public if the House or Senate is in session. Each sitting begins with the Speaker's Parade.
