Market Square Area Recommended Recommended : Michelin's recommendations

Opened in 1983, the square contains an attractive shopping mall with a central atrium and several levels, a hotel, convention centre and the New Brunswick Museum. Incorporated into the complex, a row of late-19C warehouses fronts a pleasant plaza around the market slip where Loyalists landed in 1783. In summer there are outdoor cafes and concerts in the plaza. On the plaza's south side stands an 1867 clapboard structure with gingerbread decoration, Barbour's General Store, stocked with merchandise of the period. Over St. Patrick Street a pedestrian bridge links the square with the Canada Games Aquatic Centre and City Hall, which has an observation gallery on the top floor. Brunswick Square is a complex of shops, offices and a hotel.
