Connected to Michigan’s city of the same name by the International Bridge and railway bridges. Sault Ste. Marie is an industrial centre renowned for the huge Algoma Steel Inc. works, the city’s biggest employer, and St. Marys Paper Corporation’s mill. The Canadian “Soo,” as it is commonly called, lies on the north side of St. Mary’s River, the international boundary and waterway that connects Lakes Superior and Huron.
