Ermatinger / Clergue House Interesting : Michelin's recommendations

This attractive Georgian stone house was built in 1814 by Charles Oakes Ermatinger, a partner in the North West Company, and his Ojibway wife, Charlotte. Among the guests was Paul Kane (1810-71), who made several long canoe trips across Canada, sketching and making notes about the Indians of the Great Lakes, Plains and Pacific Coast regions. On his return to Toronto, he wrote Wanderings of an Artist among the Indians of North America, which was published in 1859.
