While it regularly presents classic works by Beethoven, Brahms, Tchaikovsky and Mahler, the Vancouver Symphony frequently performs and occasionally commissions works by Western Canada composers during its year-long season; these pieces often include elements of First Nations music. Local musicians are featured, too, including members of the prodigal Parker clan, whose three sons are all established pianists. The symphony shares the Orpheum Theatre with other local and national touring companies.
