Legislative Building Interesting : Michelin's recommendations

This harmonious Neoclassical building stands in an attractive park, close to the residence of Manitoba's lieutenant-governor. Completed in 1920, the Tyndall stone building forms an "H" with a dome at its centre. Above the dome stands the Golden Boy, cast by Charles Gardet, a bronze gold-plated statue clutching a sheaf of wheat in one hand and holding a torch aloft in the other to symbolize Manitoba's spirit of enterprise. Above the main entrance (north side), a pediment depicts Canada's motto "From Sea to Sea"; at the centre is Manitoba, the Keystone Province (symbolized by a woman seated on a throne), joining east and west.
