Documents
British and Irish citizens must have a valid passport, but do not require a visa. Travellers should however be able to present a return ticket and be able to prove that they have sufficient funds to cover the length of their stay. To enter the United States from Canada, contact the relevant American Embassy’s visa section (UK: http://www.usembassy.org.uk/ , Ireland: http://dublin.usembassy.gov/).
All imported pharmaceuticals must be clearly labelled and accompanied by a prescription in the case of personal medication.
Health
Also see Practical A to Z.
No vaccinations are required. As health care expenses are very high for foreign tourists, travellers are advised to take out insurance that will provide specific assistance guarantees (hospitalisation fees, etc.) from a reputable travel insurance firm.
If you need to travel with medication, enquire about customs formalities at the Canadian border control agency.
