The quetzal, king of birds, perches up in the mists of Monteverde, whose cloud forest, stretching out at an altitude of 1 400m, constitutes one of Costa Rica's most legendary landscapes… and attracts visitors in droves. Five kilometres away from this exceptional site there extends the tropical rainforest of Santa Elena, which is less frequented.
