The vast Parque Nacional Palo Verde provides its wealth of resident wildlife (migratory birds, large mammals and reptiles) with a habitat comprising marshes, lakes and forests. In the dry season, the animals emerge to look for watering holes. Flocks of aquatic birds appear in the rainy season (when it is advisable to hire a 4x4).
