The rainy season raises the dwindling water level of the lake (fishing possible) at the magnificent Refugio Nacional de Vida Silvestre Caño Negro, one of the largest wetland nature reserves in Costa Rica. Look carefully and you may just spot the endangered jabiru among the multitude of birds.
