Lying on a small peninsula surrounded by city walls and fortresses, Korcula is one of the most beautiful medieval cities on the Adriatic Coast. Covered in dense pine forest, the island was named Korkyra Melaina, meaning "Black Korcula," by the Greeks in the 3rd century B.C.
It is considered to be the birthplace of Marco Polo, the famous world traveller. You will tour its charming streets and squares with Renaissance palaces, town loggia and the magnificent Cathedral of St. Mark, the city's patron saint.
