The gate of Ploce is the second great gate of Dubrovnik. At the time of the Ragusian Republic, it was the most important because it faces eastwards and welcomed all the caravans from the East. It is made up of two inner gates (Romanesque) and a large outer gate (Austrian period). The smallest of the three is crowned with the head of St Blaise.
