In Ulica Zudioska (Street of the Jews) the synagogue, built in the 15C to accommodate the Jewish community which grew sharply after the Inquisition and the expulsion of the Jews from Spain, still exists. The oldest in Europe after that of Prague, it houses a Jewish museum boasting rare sacred objects such as a 14C torah.
