Church of St Anthony of Padua
Church of St Anthony of Padua
: Michelin's recommendations
This originally Gothic church, adjoining the Franciscan monastery, was largely rebuilt and extended in a Baroque style between 1719 and 1763: modification of the façade, addition of side chapels and an onion dome and steeple. The interior decoration is amazing: note the spectacular pulpit, rich altarpiece of the main altar adorned with a work by Ivan Garikovac and, on the right, a gilt gallery whose extravagant flowing curves are a perfect example of the Baroque.
