This road runs the entire length of the peninsula from the Square of Freedom (Trg Slobode) to that of the Forum (Trg Marafor). It was formerly the main thoroughfare of the Roman city. Today it is lined with handsome Gothic-Renaissance and Baroque houses, and countless souvenir shops (embroidery, candles, T-shirts), jewellers and ice-cream parlours. Between two shop windows, note the pentagonal tower (1447), the Gothic house (two storeys adorned with Flamboyant windows) and the lovely house of lions.
