This attractive pedestrian avenue acquired its current aspect between 1850 and 1930. It is a bewildering mixture of styles. On the Square of the Adriatic (Jadranski trg) you will see the Rationalist "skyscraper of Rijeka", also known as the "chest of drawers". At N°32, Gradska kavana café is located on the ground-floor of a 19C palace, while the widest section is home to Secession buildings as well as the lovely Karolina shopping store, representative of early 20C iron architecture.
