This street crosses a district dotted with churches, such as that of the Ascension (Usperije Bogomatere), devoted to the Serb Orthodox religion by the French during their occupation, the (Renaissance) Holy Spirit (Sv. Duha), and the lovely church of St John (Sv. Ivan), from the latter half of the 15C, with its richly painted ceiling. The church of St Chrysogone (Sv. Krševan) now hosts temporary exhibitions, while the convent of St Lucy still has a community of nuns who make needlework for sale.
