Vis Island
: Michelin's recommendations
This small, wild and steep island is, along with Lastovo, the furthest (45km) from the mainland. Fortunately, it has yet to be disfigured by big hotels and is slowly opening up to sustainable tourism. The island lives principally from fishing and wine production: 20% of cultivated land is given over to vines, at least half for the renowned plavac mali red grape variety. Don’t miss the Greek necropolis, the Blue Grotto on the islet of Bisevo and the villages of Vis and Komiza.
