Archaeological museum Interesting : Michelin's recommendations

Before being Roman, Zadar was a Liburnian city (Illyrian tribe from northern Dalmatia). Countless traces of these two civilisations were discovered during excavations in and around Zadar. They are displayed in this museum, together with early Christian works of art. Don't miss the Roman funeral stelae, the fishermen's stele (3C) or the wonderful stone chancel salvaged from the church of St Dominic, with scenes of the gospel (Flight from Egypt).
