Square of Five Wells Interesting : Michelin's recommendations

Five perfectly aligned wells adorn the centre of this square, explaining its name. Up until the late 19C they provided water from a tank built in the 16C in the former moat. Nearby is the pentagonal Captain's tower, built into the remains of the 13C crenellated ramparts and the only section of the medieval fortifications still standing. Opposite are the bastion and municipal park created in 1890 and the oldest public garden in Croatia.
