St Mark's Square Interesting : Michelin's recommendations

This square is named after the church in its centre whose varnished tiled roof is a symbol of the capital. The edifice was built by Venetian masters and is flanked by a Baroque campanile (17C). Venture inside and admire the Gothic vaults, and beautifully carved chancel, the work of Ivan Meštrovic. The square is also the soul and symbol of political life, because it is here that the Sabor (Parliament) sits in a neo-Classical building, and also the home of the Croatian government in the former palace of the ban.
