European Union nationals: identity card or passport (a passport is essential if travelling to any neighbouring countries).
Important: if staying with friends, you must register at the nearest police station. Failure to do so can lead to a fine and expulsion, together with a six-month ban on return to the country.

No vaccinations are necessary. However ticks are a problem in northern Croatia and the Zagreb region and can be a serious risk. Vaccines possible (3 injections).
The European Health Insurance Card is not valid in Croatia. To claim medical expenses, keep all receipts and contact your local health service once home. Repatriation insurance is recommended. Some credit cards include travel insurance; check before you leave home.
