This national park, created in 1949. is one of Croatia's top tourist attractions! A UNESCO World Heritage site, it covers 296km² of countryside which ranges from rugged to peaceful, traversed by fast-flowing rivers of clear spring water. The area encompasses a "staircase" of sixteen lakes, each of which feeds into the next by waterfalls, winding their way through mountains and forests - quite breathtaking!
