St Lucy’s Church Recommended Recommended : Michelin's recommendations

A section of the ruins of this Benedictine abbey is now home to an exhibition devoted to Glagolitic stelae. The Romanesque church, built in the late 9C on the ruins of a Roman villa, has a lovely square gate tower and a unique very plain nave. At the railings of the chancel, note the copy of the famous stele of Baska (an 11C stone inscribed with medieval Croatian and Glagolitic letters). It is the oldest known document bearing the word "Croatian". The original was transferred to Zagreb in 1934.
