The climb to the upper town, up a relatively steep and roughly paved road, is well worth the effort. Once through the early 14C inner gate and upper gate, the visitor is immediately greeted by Andrea Antico square, reminiscent of an Italian piazza! It is the departure point for walks along the ramparts, to admire the fortified city and the surrounding countryside. The best view however is without a doubt from the top of the medieval tower, which unfolds over the lovely tiled roofs and into the horizon.
