This formidable 15C fortress is a fine example of late-medieval military architecture. Surrounded by five squat round towers, it was built according to a pentagonal design. The superbly restored interior has an irregularly shaped courtyard lined with elegant arcaded galleries. Note the original wooden pinnacle. Don’t miss the vaulted cellar with huge winepress, the Baroque chapel and the great hall with the tombstone of Petar II Ratkaj (1586). The keep has an exhibition on the castle’s history.
